Dog obedience training sessions have been operating in Remuera for more than 25 years by Pete Pedersen, a service dog handler. Previously the sessions took place in the Clonbern Car Park, but from May 2017 the sessions will now be held in Remuera Mall car park, Norana Avenue, from 7 - 8pm on Tuesday evenings. The classes are a five week course that provide general obedience and behaviourial training to owners of all breeds of dogs. All training is done with the dogs on leads in a controlled and structured training session, with the focus on conditioning clam and appropriate social behaviours for the dogs. Pete teaches owners how to control and manage dogs around children and at-risk people. Relevant laws are addressed in relation to the Animal Control Act and Animal Welfare Act and legislative implications on dog ownership.
