Now in its sixth year, Remuera's Bastille Day Festival celebrates everything French and will brighten your winter with French music, mime artists, street entertainers, circus, classic Citröens, Charleston, Cancan and a Treasure Hunt crafted by Alliance Francaise Auckland. Don your stripes, scarves and beret and join us in Remuera for coffee, croissants, plenty of joie de vivre and a great day out with the whole family.

|Watch a French-inspired painting evolve in real time - much loved artist and illustrator, Misery, will be painting one of her iconic characters live on Bastille Day. The large artwork will be available to purchase too! Find more information about Misery here.||Have some fun with Cousteau characters as they cruise around Remuera with a replica of the 'Anorep1' submarine - a travelling photobooth! Upload your photo to the Remuera Facebook page and there'll be prizes for the photo with the most Likes.||Pick up an Entry Form and help Marie Antoinette create her Facebook page. Uncover clues about the most famous queen of France at local Remuera businesses to complete the Treasure Hunt and be in to win some great prizes!|

|FRENCH WAITER'S RACE||DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING?
||PRETEND POODLE PARADE|
|Come along and take part in the French Waiters Race, marshalled by our fabulously funny Gendarmes. Don a waiter's apron and bow tie and balance a glass of water on a tray while racing on the red carpet at the BNZ Stage. All ages welcome!||A selection of favourite opera scenes and songs from Les Miserables. More than a dozen singers from Opera Factory present well-known French opera and musical highlights from Les Mis including the spine tingling finale, 'Do you hear the people sing'||An adorable pair of acrobatic poodles will show off some tricks and help to judge the Poodle Parade. Bring your poodle to parade along BNZ Stage... if you don't have a poodle, just give your pooch a few French accessories and join the fun...|

|CLASSIC CITROENS||STREET ENTERTAINERS||FRENCH MUSICIANS|
|The Citroen Car Club will cavalcade through Remuera at 10.45am in a fabulous range of classic Citroens. Make a donation to the Club's chosen charity and you can ride in one of the vintage Citroens too!||Look out for mime artists, French gendarmes and other street entertainers around Remuera. Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face or make you laugh out loud with their crazy French antics!||Tracey Collins on accordion will take you straight back to Paris, while Club Manouche, Twistin' the Swing and French Toast will have you dancing in the streets along with Ceroc dancers from Cityside Dance Studio.|

|The one and only Le Cirque de JP is a fabulous French clown who can teach you to ride a unicycle and to juggle! Join his workshop on BNZ Stage at 10.30am, catch his Circus Show at 1pm or find him roving.||Join Sally Blyth at Remuera Library and create fish and coral for an underwater reef Jacques Cousteau would be proud of! New Caledonia's UNESCO World Heritage-listed reef provides the inspiration...||Bastille Day wouldn't be complete without the Roaring Antoinettes performing French Charleston and French Cancan. Join in as they demonstrate a few Charleston steps!|

|Alliance Francaise teachers will welcome "les petits" at Remuera Library for some fun reading and craft activities in French with SamSam, le petit super héros français! Youpi!||Alliance Francaise teachers will welcome you at cosy Artusi with fun and immersive activities to make your first steps in "la langue de Molière", no "faux pas" guaranteed! This very entertaining race attracts a lot of competition and the stakes are high...||With plenty of croissants around on Bastille Day why not use a few to create Marie Antoinette or another French face? Come down to Poppies Books in the Village Green and get arty with croissants...||Blue, blanc, rouge, an Eiffel Tower or something else French-inspired - a facepainter from The Magic Brush will create something special on your child's face to celebrate Bastille Day!|
