Chinese New Year 2018
Chinese New Year 2018 was held at the top of St Vincent Avenue on the evening of Friday 23rd February.
The event proved to be popular with approximately 500+ people attending and enjoying an extravaganza of entertainment and food. Remuera Library was packed to capacity with happy faces enjoying multiple activities provided by the Library, thank you Remuera Library for all your efforts, and St Vincent Avenue had a steady stream of people visiting throughout the evening.
We would like to thank Chun Chung From Bakers Delight as MC for the event, Chun you did an amazing job as did Carolyn Vernon from Barfoot and Thompson for handing out prizes and certificates to the winners and finalists of the Remuera School Chinese Lantern Making competition. We'd also like to say thank you to our sponsors the Orakei Local Board and Barfoot & Thompson, Remuera for helping make this such a fun night for everyone.
The RBA collected a fantastic array of Lanterns from multiple schools for the 2018 Remuera School Chinese Lantern Competition. The winners were announced on Friday night by Carolyn Vernon from Barfoot and Thompson Remuera, who sponsored the competition, as follows:
Winning School with the Most Finalists - Churchill Park School - Prize - $500
Winner Year 1-3 - Catherine He & Priya Hermansson - Churchill Park School - Prize - $50
Winner Year 4 & Over - Mary Meredith - Meadowbank Primary School - Prize - $50
Congratulations to all the winners and finalists and thank you to the many schools and SKIDS who participated and encouraged our local children to present such wonderful art.
