The Auckland Transport Board has resolved to transferring Clonbern Road Car Park to Panuku the asset arm of Auckland Council to enable redevelopment of the site.
Thank you to our amazing community for supporting our survey and petition to reopen Clonbern Car Park Upper Level.
The petition online & in store reached approximately 5,500 signatures indicating you the Remuera community and the RBA want the upper level of Clonbern Car Park reopened.
There has been some progress with news the Auckland Transport Board resolved to transferring Clonbern Car Park to Panuku the asset arm of Auckland Council to enable the redevelopment of the site.
The car park at this stage, will not be removed from Council control. Panuku has said they will look at all options. The transfer to Panuku is on the condition that any development includes the provision of 200 car parks (20 more than what currently exists).
We believe the petition helped get the Mayor involved and we think for AT to pass to Panuku. Councillor Desley Simpson has been working flat out looking for a resolution to get the car park reopened and the Orakei Local Board have been supportive as well. We just hope commonsense will prevail and Panuku makes a decision that sorts this debacle out.
The RBA looks forward to building a relationship and working with Panuku to ensure a favourable outcome for the car park, our businesses and community.
